Hydrating Primer with SPF15
I love using makeup primer all year round under my makeup, no matter how little I plan to apply for the day. When summer and the extreme heat hits, a good primer is key to not suffering from makeup melt down. One problem I have had with some makeup primers is dryness. Sometimes by the end of the day, even though my makeup is still in place my face looks dry and a little worse for wear. Stila's new Hydrating Primer has now officially fixed this major makeup problem.
Stila has created a true multi-tasking product by combining a makeup primer, a time-released hydrator, and an SPF of 15. I have pretty normal skin with a little T-zone oil from time to time, so I tried the Hydrating Primer with a moisturizer and without a moisturizer. I thought I would have either broken out or made my nose into an oil slick by combining a moisturizer with the Hydrating Primer, but neither happened. At the end of day one my face still looked fresh and beautiful with no signs of dryness what-so-ever. The second day I tried the Primer without a moisturizer and even though I did like the moisturizer underneath it better, my skin was still very nice looking with no clear signs of dryness. Overall I would say that Stila's Hydrating Primer is a definite must-have for summer and every other season throughout the year.
Hydrating Finishing Powder
I'm all for a flawless look without getting a powdery dry look, so when I heard about the new Stila Hydrating Powder I had to try it. My overall experience with the powder was good, because the color went on very nice. I was actually surprised to see that it did blend well, since it only comes in one shade and I am extremely pale. Even though Stila infused the powder with some great naturals, such as Meadow Seed Extract for anti-oxidant protection, it was a little wispy and messy both in the container and out. I figured that this was due to the fact that it is a finely milled powder. None-the-less, the powder covered the mirror in the compact and fluttered though the air each time I opened the container.
One positve side of the finely milled powder was the extremely soft feel. The powder actually felt like silk in a jar. Some other great points about the Hydrating Powder was that it also contains time-released hydrators, just like the Hydrating Primer. It is also very lightweight and translucent, which gives a nice sheer yet flawless finish. The best thing about the Hydrating Powder was that it also helps to control excess oil while hydrating your skin at the same time. Even in the extreme heat of summer, the Hydrating Powder, coupled with the Hydrating Primer, stayed in place throughout the day without getting into fine lines or leaving my T-zone saturated with oil. Overall, I would definitely add Stila's new Hydrating Powder to your must-have list, even though it was a little messy. But I think the outcome actually trumps the messiness in this case.
