BB Creams, also known as Blemish Balms or Beauty Balms, have really hit the makeup market this year. Originally started in Asia, the BB Cream wave has now hit Europe and America. So what is a BB Cream, and why are they so special? Well, it’s like getting a combination of a tinted moisturizer with skin care ingredients and an added SPF. They’re hot right now because any beauty product that can multi-task is a must-have, and so the BB Cream is a must-have. So if you like the feel of tinted moisturizer, especially in the summer, and the added benefit of built-in skin care and SPF then the BB Cream is perfect for you.
First of all, I have to admit that I love many of Garnier’s skin care products, so the thought of adding a tinted moisturizer to the mix instantly sealed the deal for me. This BB Cream gives the perfect amount of coverage while leaving you skin looking fresh and hydrated. The added skin care benefits also work to diminish discoloration, dullness, drynesss and blotchiness over time. In the end your skin should look fabulous from the tint while looking more clear and radiant from the bonus ingredients.
I was a huge fan of the Stila Tinted Moisturizer, so knowing that I could score such a great product with even more added benefits was a no-brainer. This BB Cream gives you the benefit of a high definition tinted moisturizer, oil and blemish control, redness and irritation reducer, hydrator, makeup primer, line diminisher, and skin protector in one little tube. The consistency is very nice and feels light on your skin, which is perfect for when the heat turns up in the summertime.
Okay, so it’s not technically labeled a BB Cream, but Miracle Skin Transformer does everything a BB Cream does behind the scenes. The consistency of the coverage is slightly thicker than a tinted moisturizer, but it also contains CO Enzyme Q10, Vitamin K, Vitamin A, SPF and a makeup primer. This was a product that I actually used in 2010, before BB Creams were such a big must-have. The Vitamin A helps with blemishes and wrinkles, while the Vitamin K works against discoloration. It really is a multi-tasker, just like the BB Creams, so I’m not sure why it’s not technically labeled that. Just feel confident that it works great, looks great, and wears all-day even in the heat.
In 2011 Dr. Jart launched his BB Cream, and now they are all the rave and formulated by multiple companies. So it’s only fitting to give one of the first BB Creams a shot. Dr. Jart’s BB Cream is completely free of synthetics while giving your skin a moisturizer, sunscreen, treatment serum, and a natural coverage to boot. The SPF is a little higher at 45, which is a nice touch. Other bonuses include Bio-Peptides for collagen production, Arbutin for brightness and even skin tone, and Adenosine to help with your elasticity and firmness. Basically, it holds similar benefits to your mature skin foundation, but with a more natural coverage.
Clinique is always at the cutting edge when it comes to developing new must-have products. And this is wonderful since their products are of good quality, but the prices are more affordable. The Clinique BB Cream gives you a combination of tinted moisturizer, SPF30, makeup primer, and antioxidants for future prevention of aging and damage. The feel is very light and natural on the skin, almost like you’re wearing nothing, but it does give just the right amount of coverage for evening out any imperfections. Also, don’t be deceived; the coverage lasts all-day thanks to the primer so you can also wear it in the heat and humidity as well.
