We all love mascara, but sometimes buying a new mascara every three to six months can start to add up each year. Well you don’t have to skimp on quality when you cut the price, and we’re going to prove it to you. So take a few minutes and look over our latest list of top mascaras on the cheap, and save yourself some cash while continuing to have fabulous lashes.
If you’re tired of your lashes breaking or just looking short and thin, then you’ll want to try Almay One Coat Get Up & Grow Mascara. Almay actually came up with a pro-vitamin and anti-breakage formula so lash breakage will be reduced while your lashes are strengthened and lengthened with one simple coat. Even though it may sound like the mascara contains a growth formula as well, it doesn’t but it really does help to strengthen your natural lashes so you have less breakage. Overall you’ll have fuller-looking lashes, without clumps, because of being able to keep your natural lashes more intact.
Did you know that you could enhance your eyes depending on the color of your mascara? We’re not talking about slathering your lashes with bright blue mascara, but instead using black mascara and then enhancing your lashes with a colored top coat. Physician’s Formula’s Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Mascara Duo does just that, with one single tube. Depending on your eye color you will get a black mascara on one side, and then an eye enhancing shade on the other. If you’re afraid of having clown-colored lashes in the end, don’t be because the color is just the right amount to make your natural eye color pop. And new for fall 2011 is the Glam Collection with a focus on metallic shades. We like these even more than the originals!
With a 5-to-1 bristle ratio the wand in Avon’s SuperMagnify Mascara will seek out each and every lash and coat it equally. If you’re already an Avon mascara fan then you’ll definitely want to give this one a shot, and if you’re not a fan yet you soon will be. This mascara literally should have the motto of “no lash left behind”. According to Avon the average user saw up to 60% more lashes, and absolutely no clumps. We saw at least 60% improvement, if you can actually calculate that percentage accurately, and definitely no clumps. It will literally treat every lash like an individual, and then bring them all together for a luscious lash party.
If you have decent lashes and long for something lighter, plus a little more natural, then CoverGirl NatureLuxe Mousse Mascara will be your new best friend. We loved the NatureLuxe line when it first came out with foundation and lip gloss, and now we’re head-over-heels for their Mousse Mascara as well. The more natural formula includes a touch of honey, and according to CoverGirl it will feel 20% lighter on your lashes. This doesn’t mean that you’re giving up volume though, because it will also give your lashes two times more volume than leaving your lashes bare. So if you want a little enhancement, or if you already have decent lashes then this may be your new favorite mascara for the year.
Even after trying several new mascaras L’Oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes remains at the top of our cheap mascara list. The tube system makes your lashes look like you had professional extensions, but without the high cost. This mascara really does live up to the hype by not clumping, not flaking or smudging, lasting literally all day and night, yet comes off in a snap with a little warm water. Each time I wear this mascara I get compliments on my lashes, and tons of staring (the good kind, not the “freaky” kind). If you can only buy one mascara in your lifetime, we would recommend that you spend that money on L’Oreal’s Double Extend Beauty Tubes.
If you love Maybelline regular Falsies mascara, or if you just love enormous lashes then you have to try Maybelline’s Volum’ Express the Falsies Flared Mascara. The pro-keratin formula is supposed to give you 300% more visible lashes, and even though it’s hard to nail the exact percent once you apply the mascara it’s pretty close. Honestly if you have skimpy lashes or long and luxurious lashes, your lashes will look enormous after at least two applications. The big hint about this mascara is not to let the mascara dry between applications. Also, the curled wand helps to reach each and every lash while helping to lift, curl, and “wing” them outward. If you want that dramatic cat eye, then this mascara is a must.
Why not use a mascara that helps your lashes grow while making them look fabulous and huge at the same time? Rimmel’s Lash Accelerator Mascara is like a double-whammy for your lashes, because it contains a treatment that helps promote lash growth up to 117% in 30 days while also making your lashes look 80% longer instantly. Who could ask for more, right? So if you want rockin’ lashes both now and over time, like Zooey Deschanel, then this is the mascara for you.
This mascara is THE mascara deal of the year. At only a buck a pop, you can buy enough for the entire year! And don’t let the cheap price make you think that it won’t work, because e.l.f’s Essential Lengthening and Defining Mascara is clump free, doesn’t smudge or flake, dries quickly, and gives your lashes just the right amount of thickness and length. Who knew a dollar could still buy you something great in this economy?
We love Boots products here, and their No7 Extravagant Lash Mascara is a newly welcomed member to our Boots stash. The uniquely designed square-shaped wand helps you to easily reach each and every lash from root to tip. When combined with their cashmere and pro-vitamin B5 formula, you get lashes that look 75% longer while also staying curled for up to 8-hours or longer. Are you afraid of crunchy lashes because of the curling formula? Not with Boots No7 Extravagant Lash Mascara. Your lashes will be long and curled, plus thick and soft all through the day or night.
We found this mascara in March 2011 at a measly price of only $2.99. Well don’t let the low price scare you away because it made our lashes look enormous! Jordan Best Lash Volumizing Mascara is made in Italy and the formula contains volume-boosting polymers which curl and lift your lashes. As a bonus it stayed in place throughout the day without smudging or flaking. The downside is that it is only available in black, but that’s really the only shade you need anyway no matter how light your features may be. If you want to see proof of how fabulous it works, then check out the before-and-after photo of my lashes with and without the mascara, found in the "Read Review" link.
