Guide Review - Review of Everyday Minerals Tinted Silk Dust
This lightweight powder is a great way to finish off a mineral makeup look and to keep your face from getting shiny almost all day long. Everyday Minerals has several different finishing powders to choose from in a variety of shades, but I wanted one that wouldn’t add any additional color on top of my foundation. After initially being drawn to their Silk Dust, which is white, I read some customer reviews that complained about it leaving a white residue on their face. So I opted for the Tinted Silk Dust instead.
The tinted version is barely tinted to an eggshell white color. Just a light dusting is needed to finish off your foundation, and it blends in seamlessly, adding no additional color or leaving any white residue. On mild days it manages to keep any oiliness from appearing, and my face was as shine-free at night as it was that morning when I left the house.
Unfortunately, when summertime in the city comes, there’s no such thing as a mild day. Once the heat and humidity set in, my face would start to show some shine by mid-afternoon. Following another user tip, I applied a light layer of the powder on my face before my foundation, then another after, which seems to help on those especially humid days. But I always keep a pack of blotting papers in my purse, knowing that it’ll take a lot more than a powder to keep me shine-free on a humid day. So overall, this is a great powder for finishing off your mineral makeup, and for keeping the "oilies" away almost all day.
