Most of us wouldn’t be caught dead outside of the house without some sort of makeup product on our face, and the gym isn’t any different. Even though it’s ideal not to wear makeup while working out, there are some makeup and beauty products you can wear or at least have in your bag for after your exercise routine.
1. Yes to Cucumbers Natural Glow Facial Towelettes
I absolutely love these little cleansing clothes for at-home use, on the go, or at the gym. The rather large biodegradable cloth is pre-moistened so all you have to do is remove one from the pack, wipe your face, and go. This makes them perfect for before the gym if you don’t wear foundation during your exercise, as well as after your workout to remove the sweat and oil from your skin. I’m not the only one that loves these towelettes either. Our Guide to Skin Care, Jen Adkins, also thinks they’re the ‘cat’s meow’ in her Review of Yes to Cucumbers Natural Glow Facial Towelettes. For 30 clothes at $6 or less, plus the added natural ingredients of cucumber, aloe vera, dead sea minerals and green tea it’s a no-brainer why you need these in your gym bag.
2. Rae Climate Control Mineral Tint SPF20
If you absolutely have to wear foundation while working out then your need a good one that will stay in place while not clogging your pores. Rae is a line of heat-resistant cosmetics, formulated specifically for exercising, that also works at improving your skin at the same time. Their Climate Control Mineral Tint is perfect for indoor or outdoor workouts because of the SPF20 factor. The water-based formula will stay on all-day, even during a rigorous workout where you sweat buckets. An added mixture of chamomile, gingko, and vitamins A, C and E will also help to protect, moisturize and heal your skin while you’re keeping the rest of your body healthy. My advice is to remove the tinted moisturizer after your workout to ensure your skin is fresh and clean, and then you can reapply afterwards.
3. CoverGirl NatureLuxe Water Resistant Mousse Mascara
For many of us mascara is the staple makeup product that we can’t live without or go out without wearing. When it comes to the gym where you sweat, it’s imperative that your mascara stay in place while looking natural at the same time. That’s why when I work out I reach for CoverGirl’s NatureLuxe Water Resistant Mousse Mascara. Their NatureLuxe line is fabulous as a whole, so their NatureLuxe Mascara is the fabulous product that’s perfect for your lashes during your workout. Simply put, it makes your lashes look enhanced without looking too made-up, and the water resistant formula keeps it on your lashes during your workout, instead of on your cheeks. Once you’re done simply remove all traces with your Say Yes to Cucumbers Towelettes, and reapply a fresh coat.
4. Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm
Lip gloss or tinted balm is another makeup staple for many of us, so wearing it while working out is completely understandable. You’ll actually benefit from this since the balm will keep your lips moisturized while you exercise, while adding the perfect hint of color. Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm is the perfect candidate for this task, and then some. Infused with Shea Butter and botanical waxes, your lips will stay plump and moisturized the entire time. As a bonus it’s available in 6 shades, so you can wear a different color each day of your 5-day workout, with one left for the weekend.
5. Hint Water
Of course you need to stay hydrated daily because it makes your skin glow, but you also need good hydration before, during and after your workout. Since plain water isn’t for everyone so enter Hint Water. Hint comes in a variety of natural flavors, but does not contain any sugar or artificial sweeteners. Out of the 10 flavors I have three favorites that I tend to swap out daily including Cucumber, Blackberry and Pear. Of course you can always get more adventurous and just buy a variety pack for the week. So how much Hint Water will you need to drink? Elizabeth Quinn, our Guide to Sports Medicine, can give you the exact amount hydration needed for before, during and after exercising in her article “What to Drink for Proper Hydration During Exercise”.
