Now you will need to apply a general eyeshadow over your lids. To do this, you should use a good eyeshadow brush, such as Chanel's Small Eyeshadow Brush. As for the color of the eyeshadow, that will be up to you. For this tutorial we used a rich and dark taupe-brown from Origins called Bark. Bark is a limited-edition eyeshadow from their fall 2008 collection, but you can also use Bobbi Brown's Espresso Eyeshadow. If you would like, you can use black or even a colored eyeshadow instead; this all depends on the type of smokey eye look you want to achieve.
In this step you simply need to apply the eyeshadow over the entire eyelid area only. Do not go past your eyelid crease yet, and make sure to brush the eyeshadow all the way down to the lashes and eyeliner.
