With summer in full swing, there is so much to get out and enjoy while the days are long and warm. So the last thing you need to do is worry about what makeup products you should have on hand for summertime fun. Instead of buying too much or not having the rights products, relax and enjoy the season because we have done the research for you and came up with a great summer makeup and beauty must-haves list.
1. Skindinavia Cool Flash Makeup Finish
I recently tried this makeup finishing spray when the heat of the day was reaching 90 and above. Desperate to keep my makeup from sliding off within minutes or having it turn to an awful mess on my face, I decided to give Skindinavia's Cool Flash Makeup Finish a shot. Needless to say it worked wonders, keeping my makeup in place while keeping shine at bay and feeling great on my skin as I sprayed away the heat and humidity. It's a definite must-have for everyone's summer makeup and beauty bag.
2. Stila Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer SPF15
Since the heat and humidity is on during the summer, it's best to use a tinted moisturizer so that your skin doesn't feel so heavy during the day. My favorite is Stila's Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer with SPF15. I'm a huge mineral makeup fan, but I hate it when my skin feels bogged down in the hot and humid days of summer. So when I tried Stila's Tinted Moisturizer, with a light dusting of my favorite mineral veil, I was automatically in love. It actually evened out my skin tone very well, while giving me just enough hydration during the day without looking oily. The added benefit of the SPF15, along with how wonderful it felt and looked on my skin landed it very easily on the summer product must-have list.
3. KohGenDo Cleansing Spa Water
One thing that I have to have, especially with the heat of summertime, is a really good astringent or cleansing water. KohGenDo Cleansing Spa Water is one of the best cleansing waters that I have tried. It contains tons of natural extracts, is oil-free and alcohol free, works great with contact lenses, and literally whisks away the makeup, dirt, and oil on your skin that has collected all day under the heat and humidity. The bonus is that you can clean and go without having to rinse your face, and you can be relieved knowing that your skin is clean naturally. All of the natural ingredients, including the pure Japanese hot springs water, and the ease of use and refreshing after feel automatically put it on the summertime must-have list.
4. Maybelline Great Lash Waterproof Mascara
We're always in search of the next great mascara, and even though I absolutely love some of the extension mascaras I hate that they aren't waterproof. Even though you may not be swimming, waterproof mascara is the best idea for summer heat and humidity. The last thing you want is to have raccoon eyes within moments of walking outside. So instead of looking for the newest waterproof, I thought going back to the good old makeup artist favorite would be the best. Maybelline Great Lash Mascara is still the best mascara, hands down, so why not go for the waterproof version this summer? Overall, the extremely low price with the fantastic formula and waterproof abilities ranks it as one of the top must-have summer products.
5. Carol's Daughter Gelee de Soleil Browing Oil SPF15
Normally I reach for an SPF 70 or higher if I can find it, but sometimes I want to get a little color on my skin. So recently I took Carol's Daughter Gelee de Soleil Browning Oil with SPF15 to the beach for the week and absolutely fell in love with it. The scent automatically reminds you of summertime and the non-staining oil went on great and left my skin looking fabulous while allowing me to get a little sun. The funny thing is that even though it is to be used in the sun for tanning, I now use it sometimes to make my legs look great because it gives a nice sheen without looking greasy. The browning affect with the scent and overall feel put this on my summer must-have list for this year and for years to come.
6. Mary Kay Nourishine Lip Gloss
This lip gloss is one of my favorite lip glosses on the market right now. It comes in 10 great shades, Coral Rose and Pink Diamonds being my favorites, really moisturizes your lips and doesn't feel sticky or tacky what-so-ever. I wear Pink Diamonds with my Wet n' Wild 712 lip liner almost every single day. The light feel, range of fun shades for summer, and the lack of a cosmetic taste makes Mary Kay Nourishine Lip Gloss a definite must-have for summer.
7. Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Skin Therapy Oil
The cocoa butter scent of this light yet emollient oil is just fabulous. Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Skin Therapy Oil does a little bit of everything by helping with dry skin, aging, uneven skin tone, scars, and even stretch marks. I began using this during the summer after shaving to help keep any razor burn bumps at bay, and it worked like magic. The scent is terrific and reminds me of summertime, while being light on your skin and non-staining on your clothes. All of this makes the Skin Therapy Oil a must-have for summertime.
8. OPI Brights Color Collection
Summer means sandals, which means that you need to get your feet looking great as well as your toes. My favorite shades this summer come from the OPI Brights Color Collection. You can find any shade you can think of in this great collection including No Room for the Blues (seen here), Shorts Story, On the Same Paige, and (my personal favorite) I'm his Coral-Friend. The long-lasting and fun colors, along with the very wide variety to choose from, automatically placed OPI Brights on the summer product must-have list.
9. Clinique After Sun Rescue Balm
Summer means that eventually you may accidentally get a sunburn or just have prolonged sun exposure which can prematurely age our skin. Clinique After Sun Rescue Balm contains aloe, but it also helps minimize peeling as well as repair any damage you may have caused that day. My favorite place to keep the Rescue Balm is in the refrigerator so if I do get a sun burn, or are outside in the heat all day, I have something cool and refreshing to put on my skin afterwards. The light feel, extreme hydration, and cooling effect landed this After Sun product on the summertime must-have list.
10. Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Sin
The last thing you may want to worry about this summer is eyeshadow. Instead reach for Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Sin. This has to be one of the best products for eyelids, ever. The wand allows for a quick and easy application, while the shimmery champagne color will make you eyes look open with just a pop of needed color. The bonus is that the color lasts all day without creasing or fading. The cute genie-like bottle, along with the color and staying power made Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Sin a definite summer product must-have.
