Normally when we think about makeup we tend to overlook makeup or correcting products for our bodies. Technically self-tanner and gradual tanners can be classified as body makeup, but did you know that products go much further than that? There are numerous beauty products on the market at all price points, that can help correct, cover and conceal any imperfection or marking on your body. So let’s take a look at some of the better products, how they are used, and what they are supposed to accomplish.
Kick-off great skin on your body by treating any problems or flaws that you may find not-so-beautiful. Recently featured in Dermatology Times, DNA Scar Therapy is a new product from Dr. Moy that helps heal scars quickly. This lightweight serum is infused with a series of DNA repair enzymes (helps with skin strength, cellular repair and skin cell turnover rate), beta glucan (stimulates fibrobasts, and is often used in surgical implants to speed up the wound healing process), and sunflower seed oil (helps relieve skin irritation). A little bit of this product goes a long way, and you would use it every night on clean skin to help repair marks and scars from plastic surgery, cuts, stitches, and burns. DNA Scar Therapy works best on fresher scars, and could also be used on acne scarring. Just keep in mind that you should not use this product on open sores or wounds. Personally I used it on an old scar on my arm, and stretch marks on my stomach from having children. The scars were older so they didn’t improve completely, but there has definitely been an improvement.
If your problem is acne, or slight blemishes, on your body then you need EmerginC’s Tinted Blemish Control. This product can be used on the body or the face, and will zap any zits quickly while also helping to cover them up. The key ingredients include zinc oxide (helps to remove oil, and protects and heals the skin), sulphur (a natural antiseptic) and camphor (reduces inflammation and pain). The tint to the product allows you to apply to any skin tone, and it will help conceal the redness of the blemish, without standing out. Additional cover-up may be needed depending on the blemish and your skin tone, but it definitely gives you a great base while also eliminating the blemish in about one day. I did a full review of this product, and even though I tend to get blemishes on my neck or chest from working out the problem didn’t continue once I started using this product. Sometimes our skin needs a little extra help, and that is where EmerginC’s Tinted Blemish Control comes in.
After you have successfully treated any problems with the skin on your body it’s time to focus on smoothing your skin, or covering up other imperfections. Miracle Skin Transformer Body with SPF20 will be your next best friend in body makeup and skin care; I guarantee it. I personally love this product and use it on my legs every single day, but it has also been featured on The Today Show in Bobbie Thomas’ favorite beauty picks. Even though I use it on my legs the product can be used anywhere on the body. It feels very light on the skin, but covers imperfections while also staying in place so there is no worry about transfer onto your clothing. As a bonus it not only hydrates your skin naturally, but it also aids in skin regeneration. If it were available by the barrel then we could just dip our entire body in it and look fabulous all over, but for now we highly recommend the 3.38 ounce tube.
One way to help camouflage imperfections on your body is through self-tanning. If you don’t like to go all-in on a self-tanner then a gradual self-tanner is perfect. One of the best gradual tanners and moisturizers on the market right now is Nivea’s Sun-Kissed Radiant Skin Gradual Tanner and Daily Lotion. You get the fantastic benefits of Nivea’s lotion while building a nice and natural-looking tan within five days of everyday use. The scent is nice and fresh, and the formula makes it virtually impossible to streak. This product can be used all over the body, minus the face, and really helps to camouflage any of the little imperfections including stretch marks and cellulite. As a bonus you can normally find this 8.4 ounce bottle for under $12 at most locations, including online.
If you need a little more coverage or have a tattoo that has to be hidden then Dermablend should be your brand of choice. They make a variety of different coverage products, but the Leg and Body Cover with SPF15 is the best for body makeup. Overall the formula goes on thicker and does the job of covering well, while feeling lightweight and it doesn’t look dry or cakey once set. It will also stay in place all day, until you wash it away with soap and water, as long as you set it with their setting powder. I’ve actually trained with Dermablend in the past on how to apply the products correctly, and I have used it many times to help women (and some men) cover tattoos, severe scars, skin discoloration and spider veins. The bonus is their extensive list of shades, so it is very easy to find your perfect match.
If your legs are your problem, and you need something that is quick, affordable and stays on all-day while looking natural then Sally Hansen’s Airbrush Legs is a must-have. This is also a great product if you long for the look of a gradual self-tanner, but you don’t have the time or patience to wait five days for the outcome. This product comes in four shades so you can easily find one for your needs, and goes on effortlessly while feeling weightless and looking virtually flawless. To achieve the perfect leg you simply spray the product into your hands, apply to your legs, blend evenly, and then wait 60 seconds for it to set (before getting dressed). At the end of the day it comes off in the shower, or with water and a washcloth. As a bonus it can be found at any drugstore or discount store near you, or online at many locations.
Sometimes all you need for a more flawless body is a good self-tanner. One of my personal favorites is DuWop’s Clear Revolotion. This product not only gives your skin a natural tanned look, but it also tones and conditions your skin at the same time. It also gives your skin a slight shimmer, which can help to make your skin look more supple, flawless, and even thinner. The scent is also very light and fresh, so there is no self-tanner smell. The big surprise is that the product is a gel instead of a lotion/cream, so it absorbs quickly. To use you simply apply all over your body after exfoliating, wash your hands when complete, allow 5-10 minutes to completely dry, and then wait for the beautiful tan to appear. As a bonus, if you still need more color you can add another application the next morning without looking fake or orange.
