Guide Review of Kaplan MD Lip 20
I love products that are more natural yet still give you what you want, so when I was contacted to test the Kaplan MD Lip 20 I was very excited. Initially I was a little leery of whether the product would actually work the way it was supposed to, since sometimes mass-produced products from specialists tend to be less than what you would get in their office. This was not the case for Kaplan MD Lip 20. Of course I’ve never been to Dr. Kaplan’s office, but I can say that his Lip 20 product is definitely worth the money.
Lip 20 really is a different type of lip plumper/lipstick. The use of Hyaluronic Spheres allows for immersion directly into the lips, which means you get a more natural plumping by filling in lines and crevices. The feel is a slight tingle, like putting Listerine on your lips, and there is a slight mint-like scent and taste. The color I tested was Sheer Blackberry Shine, and the name is true to form by giving a nice sheer tint of color on the lips. The formula is very nice and glides on very easily, without feeling tacky or too greasy afterwards. Overall the color lasted as long as any sheer lipstick, but the added benefit of a lip plumper lasted much longer than most I have tried; so this was a definite bonus.
The packaging of the lipstick has to be one of the key points for this product. Upon my first look I tried to quickly pull off the cap to look at the lipstick inside, but to my surprise nothing happened. This is because the lipstick is housed inside a beautiful shiny silver-like tube, topped with a capital “M”. In order to find the lipstick you have to twist the tube, which opens the “M” embossed cap, then revealing the lipstick. I love this idea because you don’t have to worry about the cap coming off in your purse or makeup bag, and you also don’t have to worry about smashing the lipstick when you forget to retract it before replacing the cap. So all-around the product and packaging is definitely worth the price of admission.
The Bottom Line on Kaplan MD Lip 20
I can see why Marcia Cross and Ginnifer Goodwin are fans of Kaplan MD. The products and packaging are phenomenal, and the price of $30 makes it affordable for all of us non-celebrities. I would pay that much just for the lip plumper, but since you also get a lipstick, SPF, moisturizer, and ultra-cool lipstick tube I feel like I should pay Dr. Kaplan for the rest!
