When Good Brushes Go Bad
Okay, here’s the scenario: You're 30 or older and yet you still keep getting acne, and the last time you checked you finished puberty YEARS ago. So what could be the problem? Well, there are the obvious culprits; hormones, touching your face too much, using a dirty phone, your diet, or even the medication you may be taking. I know, not everything can be hormone related, so could it possibly be something you use every day, like your makeup brushes?
First, ask yourself when was the last time you actually washed your makeup brushes? If your answer is more than 2 weeks ago, and you use them daily, then we may have just solved the case of the reappearing acne. Makeup brushes are normally made of natural hair, even though some do use synthetic, and they have to be cleaned just as the hair on your head needs to be cleaned. How disgusting would your hair be if you kept adding products to it daily and didn't wash it for weeks, months, or never? Yuck!
Let's face it, if you don't wash your brushes frequently then you may be making your very own science experiment for you skin. So what should you do to fix this problem? It's easy; grab your brushes, some shampoo, and read How to Clean Your Makeup Brushes.
